In recent interviews, Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder said that in addition to working on the third season of Serial, they are also working on another show that is not Serial, but 'Serial adjacent.' So perhaps that other show would take precedence over the third season of Serial, especially if finishing reporting on the third season is taking longer than expected for whatever reason (like if it's an ongoing story, or if there's a source they really want but are having trouble reaching, etc.). Personally I'm really looking forward to both the third season of Serial and this mysterious other project. I really enjoy Serial, hence my presence on this sub.
