Well everything seems to be fine but no audio at all! I've done lots of research and it seems to be that the only way to fix it is by restoring the sounds files but where can i get them? I MEAN magellan doesn't provide any support any more due to the unit is discontinued! I mean how messed up is that?

AND why would they provide with such a horrible option? Can anyone please please please help me? Please I'm going crazy here!:( Posted on Feb 13, 2008. The Magellan Roadmate 300 and 300R both require preloaded map data to be supplied from an SD card. You can't just pop any card into the slot and get it working. It requires a card of 2GB or less loaded with Magellan mapping software. Magellan provides nationwide maps and regional maps.

The 300R was a regional unit while the 300 included a national basemap. If you have a model 300, you can still use the highway basemap to get routing from city to city but you will not have detailed address routing at the residential street level unless you insert an SD card with Magellan software. If you have a 300R model, the unit will be useless without the Magellan software on an SD card. Magellan doesn't seem to offer much software support for this unit any more and the maps are difficult to find. Dec 04, 2009 . I had the same problem caused by reformatting the internal memory and this is what I did which worked for me: Make sure you remove any SD memory cards before trying this fix.

First: find the base maps (NA_BSMAP.mgi and NA_BSMAP.nlt)maps which are located in your computer in the Magellan Roadmate Manager (C: ProgramFiles Magellan Magellan RoadMate Manager NA Map Basemaps) Second: Connect your Roadmate with the USB cable to your computer. Third: Plug in USB and power up your GPS. Cut and paste the two files mentioned above to your GPS (Devices with Removable Storage (example E:/). They are approximately 25 MB in size and will take a few minutes to copy.

Fourth: Unplug the USB cable and shut power off to the GPS. Fifth: Power up the GPS and it should find the 'base maps'. Dec 26, 2007 .

Hello everybody, Well I tried HarryA's second version of how to reset my roadmate 1200. Seeing as I did not have the original magellan 1200's backup files I had to try and copy the winceimg.bin and winceimg.cks files to the SD card. I did the reset and it got the magellan to a file manager screen, but once I get to that screen, I cannot click anything, it is as though the screen is frozen. Oh and by the way I also never saw the 'Please remove SD Card' message that is supposed to appear. This is the furthest I have gotten to fixing this problem and I'd appreciate any help. I have also bricked my Unit doing the current OS update offered by Magellan. But I have the original backup files from my Magellan 1200.

Sandoz Technical Training Program. Turns out I made a backup! Found it on my old desktop that is now sitting collecting dust.

So if anyone needs them I can send them no problem. You might need to edit the Unit_ID.dat file and put in your Serial # but it should work. The problem I’m getting now is after I copied the backup files to the TFAT drive, its states “SD card has been removed. Program will restart. Please insert SD Card with map” I never touched the SD card that came with the unit, ie., format, and or recopied the maps. This is the original untouched SD card! I do have another card I tested by coping the Maps over, but I’m still getting the same Error.

Is there some sort of master rest to get the maps working? Does anyone know how to keep the Unit_ID.dat from resetting after a restart? I think that’s my main issue. This is what my dat file does after restart Model name=Magellan® RoadMate Model number=1200 US ID=733 Serial number=????????????2 Code Flash size(MB)=0 Nand Flash size(MB)=0 Program RAM size(MB)=26 OS version=-2 SH version=0.52 Navigator version=1.36 MP3 Player version= Picture Viewer version= TNCommander version= Keyboard version= Region=1 Firmware version=1.50 Hardware version=-2 Has you can see it wipes the Serial out and put in a bunch of????? I can edit and save but restart and its back to the same, and doesn’t link with the maps! If anyone can offer me some help I would greatly appriciate it.
